Estimated to Be the Largest SaaS Deployment, Kelly Services is Using Cornerstone’s Comprehensive Suite to Manage and Develop Its Temporary and Full-Time Employees
HRchitect featured Cornerstone OnDemand in our May 2008 release of The Suite Life of Integrated Talent Management and also includes them in our list of top Talent Management Systems and top Learning Management Systems vendors that businesses should consider. Cornerstone OnDemand competed in the HRchitect Beauty Pageant on Talent Management Systems in November 2008, where they were crowned the winner. Charles Coy of Cornerstone OnDemand appeared on the HRchitect WebMingle on January 16, 2009.
Cornerstone OnDemand today announced that Kelly Services, a world leader in workforce management services and human resources solutions, is deploying Cornerstone’s integrated learning and talent management software suite to nearly 659,000 employees worldwide, including temporary professional employees and full-time employees. Cornerstone estimates it is the largest global implementation to date of a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) application. Kelly Services will use the suite – including platforms for onboarding, learning, performance, succession, compensation and extended enterprise – to manage and develop its temporary and full-time employees on a global basis.
Kelly Services maintains its leadership position based on its core value of investing in people. This applies to its 650,000 temporary professional staffers placed with Kelly’s clients, as well as its 8,900 field and corporate employees. When the company’s Global Learning team sought to update its legacy Learning Management System (LMS), they saw an opportunity to partner more closely with other human resource (HR) functions within the company and select an integrated application platform to meet all of their needs. This would provide the organization with more insight into its workforce and allow them to be more effective with their Human Capital Management initiatives. Additionally, it would help to improve the candidate and employee experience, leading to improved customer service.
“Cornerstone appealed to us because of the comprehensive functionality and Software-as-a-Service delivery of its talent management suite, as well as the cultural fit between the two organizations,” said Allison Kerksa, Director of Global Learning for Kelly Services. “Providing employees with easy, anytime/anywhere access to their learning and career information was critical, and the ability to leverage online forms has led to significant streamlining of employee compliance processes. From a business perspective, Cornerstone’s SaaS-based suite offers a low cost of ownership, and it doesn’t require additional hardware investments or IT support.”
Kelly Services also hopes to benefit from Cornerstone’s customer-driven innovation philosophy, providing input and ideas for new software features and functionality as it evolves its own learning and talent management strategy.
“The flexibility, scalability and configurability of Cornerstone’s on-demand learning and performance solutions simplify global deployments for organizations such as Kelly Services,” said Adam Miller, President and CEO of Cornerstone OnDemand Inc. “And by taking an integrated approach to managing and developing its employees, the company will be able to derive more value and insight from its system, resulting in happier employees and higher user engagement. We look forward to continuing to be a trusted partner of Kelly Services and supporting the success of its learning and talent management initiatives.”

OpenHire is the second of three SilkRoad technology solutions being implemented by Concentra. They are currently in the process of implementing RedCarpet for onboarding and have future plans to use RedCarpet “life events” as well.
“We’re very pleased with our decision to go with SilkRoad,” said Greg Miller, vice president of talent management at Concentra. “We were using another provider whose system was costing us more and providing us less in terms of functionality, ease of use, and customer service. We look forward to being more efficient, effective, and responsive with the SilkRoad solutions.”

HRchitect includes Meridian in our list of top Learning Management Systems vendors that businesses should consider.
Meridian Knowledge Solutions, LLC released the latest version of its learning management system (LMS) software that includes features targeted specifically at consumers. With enhanced functions for managing and selling online and classroom training, Meridian Global LMS 2009 makes it easy for businesses, such as retailers, banks and trade associations, to train a wide array of customers, suppliers and distributors.
“Most employers look at a learning management system as a way to train an internal audience of employees,” said Bryan Chapman, chief learning strategist for Chapman Alliance, a learning-technologies consultancy. “But with a combination of consumer-friendly features and functions, employers can market – and charge for – external training, including teaching management strategies to franchisees; instructing customers how to get more from products; or, providing members of trade associations with certification training.”
Meridian believes its latest software release offers customers just that mix.
For example, Meridian Global LMS 2009 includes:
- an easy-to-use interface for finding, evaluating and taking learning
- an enhanced e-commerce function to buy (and collect payment for) instructional products or online training
- protocols (e.g., LDAP) and tools for simplifying the process by which users of all kinds sign on to the LMS to take training
- a creative approach to “custom roles.” Custom roles offer an employer an easy way to build a complex menu of functions and content for different users to tap into. For instance, if a manufacturer wants distributors of, say, its hydraulic products to create and sell online training and resellers of its electromechanical products to simply handle online registration for classroom courses, then the custom roles function in the LMS nimbly handles the job
- a one-step approach for importing courses from a server to the LMS, as long as the courses meet one of two e-learning industry standards such as SCORM or AICC.
“If a company, association or any type of employer wants to turn training into a profit center, the new Meridian Global LMS warrants a look,” said Mike Brennan, product director for Meridian. “The e-commerce and management tools in our newest LMS open a myriad of possibilities for businesses that want to educate groups beyond employees.”
Trade groups and industry publications alike gave the 2008 edition of Meridian’s LMS top marks for being easy to use. Meridian has built on its straightforward, yet powerful, product and tailored the features of Meridian Global LMS to appeal to a consumer audience.
Customers have begun ordering the latest edition of Meridian’s LMS, including a trade association that intends to use Meridian’s new software to sell training to its 150,000 members.
“A buyer can configure our latest learning management system to support multiple networks, reseller organizations, distributors and customers,” added Roy Haythorn, vice president of Meridian Operations. “When you compare the number of people you can reach with an externally facing LMS to one used solely for employee education, the numbers and financial benefits grow exponentially.”

Works Seamlessly with Market-Leading Recruiting Management System OpenHire
HRchitect featured SilkRoad in our May 2008 release of The Suite Life of Integrated Talent Management and also includes them in our list of top Talent Acquisition Systems vendors that businesses should consider. SilkRoad competed in the HRchitect Beauty Pageant on Onboarding Systems in January 2009, where they were crowned the winner. Brian Platz, EVP and COO with SilkRoad, participated in the HRchitect WebMingle on March 20, 2009.
SilkRoad technology, inc., a leading provider of talent management solutions, has joined Jobfox and other human resource technology companies to introduce ResumePal, the recruiting industry’s first universally accepted online employment application. ResumePal will work seamlessly with SilkRoad’s recruiting management system, OpenHire.
ResumePal revolutionizes the way applicants and employers connect by eliminating time spent completing forms and allowing employers to get more accurate candidate information. By completing a one-time online career profile, job seekers are able to apply at thousands of companies accepting the standard by submitting with two clicks, instead of spending hours completing separate applications for each job listing.
SilkRoad provided input into the creation of ResumePal and will be incorporating the standard into its market-leading OpenHire recruiting management solution. OpenHire helps recruiters practice intelligent recruiting, reduce costs, work more efficiently and streamline their workflow.
“This universally accepted profile will save applicants the time and frustration of filling out multiple forms across numerous websites, and will also help recruiters get better information from candidates,” said SilkRoad COO, Brian Platz. “ResumePal is another step for SilkRoad in helping companies find, hire and retain the best employees.”
Benefits of using ResumePal include:
· Smarter matching for employers- ResumePal instantly routes the job seeker to the jobs matching their skills throughout the organization.
· Reduced applicant abandonment- It reduces the amount of seekers that routinely abandon corporate career sites that require them to fill out individual online applications.
· Dynamic candidate information – Updates to candidate profiles are automatically propagated directly to employers’ applicant tracking solution, keeping applicant information up-to-date.
· Reduced advertising spend- By routing applicants directly to their best job matches employers are able to maximize the return on their recruiting budgets.
· Faster results- Comprehensive candidate matching is brought straight to the employer’s applicant tracking solution, providing match results for employers instantly and continuously.
· Apply one time – Job-seekers apply one time and are then matched to every appropriate job at that company.

Accero, a leading provider of Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions to mid-size and large enterprises, is proud to announce the attainment of a major milestone; 2009 marks Accero’s 35th year in delivering cost-effective and scalable HCM solutions to businesses and governmental entities throughout North America and the United Kingdom.
Originally founded in 1974 as Cyborg Systems, Inc., Accero was acquired from Hewitt Associates in February of 2008 by Vista Equity Partners, a San Francisco-based private equity firm. Backed by Vista, fully funded and cash flow positive, the company reemerged last year with a new name and a renewed investment in customer satisfaction, product innovation and new customer acquisition.
“Change is the one constant in the technology market, so it is remarkable to speak of success over even a ten-year period, let alone thirty-five years,” said Tom Malone, Accero CEO. “The enduring success of the Cyborg-Accero solution over this long time period is a testament to our continued focus on customer satisfaction, technology innovation and deep and robust product functionality. It also speaks to a tremendous level of customer loyalty for which we are very appreciative.”
Accero’s HCM solution suite, The Solution Series, is specifically optimized to support companies with 2500 or more employees. Highly configurable and scalable, The Solution Series is designed to manage complex requirements and high volumes that other HCM solutions simply cannot match. Accero’s success in meeting these requirements is validated by its impressive customer retention; the average Accero customer has been with the company for more than 15 years.
“We’ve been an Accero customer for over a decade, and during that time we’ve grown from 6,500 to over 30,000 employees,” said Pat Snodsmith, Vice President and HRIS Manager, at Regions Financial Corporation. “Honestly, we’ve never considered replacing Cyborg. It just works.”
In 2008, Accero focused on significantly enhancing The Solution Series product suite, and in February rolled out version 6.0, the most comprehensive upgrade to its core software package in more than ten years. In addition to substantial enhancements and new functionality, Accero introduced Fast Forward, a new browser-based user interface that significantly streamlines the use of the Accero system. The new user interface includes new employee query/list processing and reporting capabilities, quick links for faster navigation and an enhanced customizable workflow to optimize user efficiency.
Accero’s sales and marketing initiatives will focus on mid-size and large enterprises that are using or considering SAP or Oracle for their HR and Payroll needs. In addition, beginning in the second half of 2009, Accero plans to offer The Solution Series in a range of deployment options, from traditional licensed software to a hosted solution model to fully managed outsourcing, offering customers more choice in how they access the software and manage day to day HCM operations.

Company Poised to Introduce Semantic-Search Technology to $10 Billion Talent Acquisition Industry
Seattle-based TalentSpring, Inc. announces that its open funding round, where it secured $1.6 Million in investment from Second Avenue Partners and private investors, is now closed. The funding has enabled TalentSpring to bring its revolutionary semantic-search technology to the $10 Billion talent acquisition industry. After two and half years in development, TalentSpring is currently piloting its SaaS talent sourcing service to more than 50 medium- and large-sized organizations and expects to release to the market in May 2009. The service empowers recruiters and hiring managers to automatically search social networking sites, job boards, and corporate applicant tracking systems (ATS) to find the best matched job candidates for open positions.
“We’re solving a huge problem for recruiters by automating the candidate sourcing process of manually reading and ranking resumes,” says Bryan Starbuck, CEO and Founder of TalentSpring. “TalentSpring’s technology will allow every recruiter to become an expert candidate sourcer and will save organizations substantial amounts of money.” Starbuck explains, “Today, recruiters have to read through an average of 200 resumes to find one good candidate. Not to mention, it is not uncommon for a recruiter to read 2,000 resumes to actually fill a position. The task is so time consuming that the best candidates for a position are often overlooked because recruiters simply don’t have time to find them. Or by the time they’re found, they’ve been hired by a competitor.”
By employing semantic-search technology to candidate sourcing, TalentSpring find resumes that are similarly matched to the attributes listed on the job requisition. This process greatly increases the pool of potential high-quality candidates and is a major innovation over today’s Boolean search method which only finds candidates whose resumes contain the exact Boolean logic and keyword(s) the recruiter used.
If a candidate’s resume doesn’t have the exact keywords used in the search, it is discarded before ever being read by a recruiter. The result is that organizations are not able to take advantage of the large available labor pool to find the best matched candidates for their positions.

Navicus Expands Talent Management Suite with Integrated Competency and Performance Based Assessments Products from Global Human Asset Systems.
Navicus, a leading Employment Screening and Talent Management software service provider, today announced the launch of Talent Intelligence, a competency and performance based assessment product offering. The introduction of competency and performance based assessments from Global Human Asset Systems, LLC (GHAS) is another way Navicus delivers on its promise to help companies of all sizes by providing integrated solutions that enable organizations to bridge strategy and execution gaps, cultivate top talent, optimize workforces, and drive business productivity. Companies can add objective Talent Intelligence to their hiring or right-sizing decisions either as a standalone or through the Navicus Applicant Tracking and Performance Management modules.
The Talent Intelligence process is streamlined and impactful. The assessment tests have been developed and researched from over thirty years of successful psychometric practice by Dr. George Paajanen. The tests are validated in over 240 studies, used for hiring in over 300 organizations, presented in dozens of professional conferences, reported and reviewed in dozens of journal articles, and taken by over 140 million applicants. The design features of the test have been derived from extensive applied research, offering advantages over conventional assessment instruments. The tests provide accurate prediction of job performance, in a form that is fast and easy for applicants, and produces significant returns on investment.
Talent Intelligence can be configured to include an online behavioral assessment that gets the interview started online by collecting 3-5 confirmed achievements. Designed by Dr. Tom Janz, author of pioneering research and a major book on Behavioral Interviewing, the Talent Intelligence (Behavioral Interview Online) saves both companies and candidate’s time while enabling shorter, deeper, and more satisfying final decision interviews.
“The addition of Talent Intelligence better enables us to deliver a well rounded and complete picture of applicants. In today’s hiring environment it is imperative for companies to implement efficient talent acquisition and development strategies since applicant flow is increasing from higher unemployment rates and there is increasing visibility relative to employee productivity. By incorporating competency and performance based assessments into a talent management strategy it is estimated that companies can realize a 100-200% increase in hiring accuracy and significant increases within the tracking of employee goals thus, leading to a more productive workforce,” says Jesse Berger, CEO of Navicus.
