SilkRoad technology, a leading provider of talent management solutions, announced recently its Life Suite has been selected as the winner of a prestigious CODiE Award for the “Best Human Capital Management Solution” by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA).

More than 785 nominations were submitted and narrowed down to 188 products for the finalists. Of the 188 finalists, 34 winners were announced. Nominated products underwent an intensive review by subject matter experts, analysts, journalists, and others with deep experience in the field.

The program was created so that pioneers of the then-nascent software industry could evaluate and honor each other’s work. Since then, the CODiE Awards program has carried out the same purpose – to showcase the software and information industry’s finest products and services and to honor excellence in corporate achievement and philanthropic efforts.

Success driven by new product and continued adoption of Life Suite
HRchitect featured SilkRoad in our May 2008 release of The Suite Life of Integrated Talent Management and also includes them in our list of top Talent Acquisition Systems vendors that businesses should consider. SilkRoad participated in the Onboarding Systems panel on June 10, 2009 as part of theHRshow. SilkRoad competed in the HRchitect Beauty Pageant on Onboarding Systems in January 2009 where they were crowned the winner. We have unparalleled knowledge of the HR and Talent Management vendor community and can save you time and money in selection and implementation.
SilkRoad technology, inc., a leading provider of talent management solutions, announced today that the third quarter of 2009 marked the 25th consecutive period of sales growth for the company. Highlights from the quarter include SilkRoad’s new core HR system, HeartBeat; the industry’s first talent management assessment tool; an expanded alliance with top employment site Monster; and continued widespread adoption of the company’s Life Suite solutions.
SilkRoad had a record Q3 with its dominant recruitment management and retention strategy solutions, OpenHire and RedCarpet, driving more effective talent acquisition through the use of social networks and strategic talent brand management. Healthfirst, US Oncology, Inc., and Wake Forest University all purchased both OpenHire, for recruiting management and RedCarpet, for employee onboarding and life events. Other clients purchasing the Life Suite included: Life Style Family Fitness, Pratt Institute, USAble Life, CentralCare, Cook Children’s Health Care System, Renal Ventures Management, LLC, SIRVA, and Summa Health System.
“This has been another very exciting quarter for SilkRoad with a sizeable number of clients opting to purchase multiple Life Suite products,” said Andrew J. “Flip” Filipowski, Executive Chairman and CEO of SilkRoad technology. “With the addition of our new product HeartBeat, we have been able to extend what was already an unparalleled package of talent management and HR solutions.”
“As always, we are very excited about our ongoing partnerships. This quarter our work with Aberdeen Group generated a groundbreaking talent management assessment tool for the industry and our extended alliance with Monster helps clients get job postings out as quickly as possible. Both of these initiatives further our perpetual goal: helping every company recruit and retain the best fit talent for their organizations,” continued Filipowski.
At the annual HR Technology Conference in September, SilkRoad announced a new proprietary Software as a Service Core HR solution that will join its award-winning Life Suite. The new product, HeartBeat, allows secure and reliable access to key HR information for both employees and management by creating a “system of record” to store all employees’ core data.
With HeartBeat, both workers and managers have access to and can act on HR information relevant to them. The core HR system also allows for easy creation of analytics and reporting, from complete organizational charts and headcount reports to specific business unit and work analytics, offering insight and strategic value in managing enterprise human capital.
This quarter SilkRoad also announced the availability of the first interactive talent management assessment tool designed specifically for the Human Resources industry. SilkRoad’s talent management benchmark tool, which is free to users, allows organizations to compare their performance against companies from around the world. The benchmark tool was created in partnership with Aberdeen Group and will help companies identify areas for improvement across their talent management portfolios. In order to compile the data used in this tool, Aberdeen collected and analyzed data, including over 640,000 data points, from more than three thousand organizations around the world.
At the end of September, SilkRoad received a top ranking in the 2009 Aberdeen AXIS report for Talent Acquisition Systems. The AXIS report provides a Best-in-Class performance evaluation, and assessment of each vendor’s market readiness as determined by over 250 evaluation criteria. “We are extremely proud to not only be included in this report, but to be a clear market leader for Applicant Tracking and Talent Acquisitions,” said Brian Platz, SilkRoad COO.
SilkRoad also extended its alliance with Monster, the leading global online careers and recruitment resource, to provide real-time posting tools into the OpenHire recruiting management solution. These newly available tools will enable SilkRoad technology customers to seamlessly post their open positions and manage applicant data. With the real-time posting feature, customers can post jobs from OpenHire to Monster in real-time, making job postings available to jobseekers sooner than ever before. Additionally, SilkRoad has been able to take advantage of some of Monster’s advanced integration components, allowing organizations to view available inventory in real-time without ever leaving OpenHire.
Last but certainly not least, SilkRoad was honored by The Business Journal in September as the number 12 fastest growing company in the Triad area. The Business Journal counted down the region’s fastest growing privately held companies at an event that annually honors the successes of private businesses and their owners – as well as the growth and contribution of the 50 most dynamic companies that have strong impact on the Triad’s economic success.

SilkRoad technology, inc., a leading provider of talent management solutions, announced its second quarter earnings for 2009 marked the 24th consecutive period of sales growth for the company. Highlights from the quarter include several new strategic partnerships, continued industry recognition and customers purchasing multiple Life Suite solutions.
“Strategic partnerships help us to reach our goal of helping clients recruit and retain the best talent for their organizations. With partnerships such as the ones we have entered into this quarter, we are able to offer our customers a broader range of services, and often times reach a greater number of organizations,” said Andrew J. “Flip” Filipowski, Executive Chairman & CEO of SilkRoad technology.
In April, SilkRoad joined Jobfox in the introduction of ResumePal, the recruiting industry’s first universally accepted online employment application. ResumePal works seamlessly with SilkRoad’s recruiting management system, OpenHire, and revolutionizes the way applicants and employers connect by eliminating time spent completing forms and allowing employers to get more accurate candidate information. By completing a one-time online career profile, job seekers are able to apply at multiple companies by submitting with two clicks, instead of completing separate applications for each job listing.
Additionally, this quarter SilkRoad partnered with Simply Hired, the world’s largest job search engine and advertising recruitment network, allowing SilkRoad customers to even further expand their reach. Jobs indexed by Simply Hired through OpenHire will provide customers the ability to distribute and include their jobs in the organic listings on Simply Hired’s network of over 5000 new locations, including social networking sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Plaxo. The partnership allows SilkRoad customers to reach both active and passive job seekers in new and innovative ways.
New Q2 2009 OpenHire clients include: Applied Extrusion Technologies, Inc., Arista Care Health Services, and SWBC.
SilkRoad also announced a partnership with Deltek, Inc., the top provider of enterprise applications software for project-focused businesses, in May. The partnership makes SilkRoad’s talent management solutions more accessible to the government contractor market and other project-based industries such as accounting and engineering. The companies have long maintained a strong relationship but this partnership provides an even stronger integration between Deltek’s market leading HRIS solution Costpoint, and SilkRoad’s Life Suite. Among other benefits, these solutions will provide for a more efficient onboarding process, thus increasing day one readiness and maximizing employee productiveness in the shortest time possible.
In the second quarter SilkRoad received much industry recognition including:
- American Business Awards- SilkRoad was a finalist in “Customer Service Team of the Year” category in May for the American Business Awards. The awards program annually honors companies and generates public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and business people worldwide.
- Network Products Guide- Network Product Guide honored SilkRoad with a 2009 Product Innovation Award. The award recognizes vendors from around the world that are responsible for innovative and ground-breaking products bringing essential and incremental changes in all areas of information technology.
- HROA Award- SilkRoad was a nominee for an HROA award for the “Customer Relationship of the Year” with client, Plante & Moran. The 2009 HROA Awards theme was “Be Innovative,” honoring individuals and organizations who have exhibited a commitment to innovation within the HRO industry.
- Tech 50- For the second year in a row SilkRoad was included as a 2009 Tech 50 winner by TechJournal South. Tech 50 companies are recognized as the most innovative regional companies and are evaluated by technology innovation, management team, marketplace potential and success of execution.
Healthcare and health products continue to be a strong industry for new clients. SilkRoad technology-Sponsored Report Highlights Reduced Training Costs, Greater New Hire Engagement Through Use of Social Networking Tools — Complimentary copy of report made possible in part by SilkRoad sponsorship
Organizations using blogs, wikis, internal social networks and other online collaboration tools throughout the talent management lifecycle demonstrated a 39 percent reduction in training costs while improving engagement and quality of hire by 33 percent according to a recent Aberdeen Group study sponsored in part by SilkRoad technology, inc., the leading provider of talent management solutions. The study, “HR Executive’s Guide to Web 2.0: Cracking the Code for Talent Management” provides a roadmap to Web 2.0 tools and examines how leading organizations achieve success by using social networking technologies throughout the talent management lifecycle.
Aberdeen interviewed well over 500 organizations for the study and found organizations utilizing Web 2.0 tools were twice as likely to achieve Aberdeen’s Best-in-Class designation. The report found 55 percent of all organizations that achieved the Best-in-Class designation utilized Web 2.0 tools to facilitate knowledge transfer and 36 percent used the tools to connect employees with colleagues within the organization. Social networking strategies used include company forums, employee communities, enterprise social networking, and employee profile pages.
“Organizations utilizing key social networking tools internally, such as employee forums/discussion groups and internal employee communities achieved a 37% year-over-year improvement in engagement – over three times the improvement seen by organizations not utilizing these technologies,” said Mollie Lombardi, research analyst, human capital management at Aberdeen and co-author of the report.
A complimentary copy of the Aberdeen report has been made available in part by SilkRoad at: http://www.aberdeen.com/link/sponsor.asp?cid=6070.
“This report proves that keeping talent engaged, from their first encounter with the company through training and beyond, can significantly impact the quality of hires. It also can dramatically reduce training costs,” said SilkRoad technology CEO, Andrew J. “Flip” Filipowski. “We always welcome the opportunity to participate in a study with Aberdeen and help make valuable information available to other organizations, allowing them to better recruit and retain the best employees for their teams.”

Aberdeen Group report surveys 600+ HR executives; Complimentary copy made possible in part by SilkRoad sponsorship
HRchitect featured SilkRoad Technology in our May 2008 release of The Suite Life of Integrated Talent Management and also includes them in our list of top Talent Acquisition Systems and top Talent Management Systems vendors that businesses should consider. SilkRoad Technology also participated in the HRchitect Beauty Pageant on Onboarding Systems in January 2009, where they were crowned the winner and also participated in the Talent Acquisition Systems pageant in November 2008.
Sixty-eight percent of corporate human resources executives recently surveyed indicated that their companies have a formal onboarding process in place, according to a recent Aberdeen study sponsored in part by SilkRoad technology, inc., the leading provider of talent management solutions. The study, “Fully On-Board: Getting the Most from Your Talent in the First Year,” found that top-performing companies with formal onboarding procedures in place saw a 31 percent average improvement in new employee engagement and a 24 percent average decrease in time-to-productivity for new employees.
Effective onboarding of new employees is so crucial that more than half of the 600 human resources, talent management, and line of business executives surveyed and interviewed in December 2008 and January 2009 for the study indicated that the current state of the economy would increase the importance their organization placed on onboarding in 2009.
Two-thirds of survey respondents also indicated that their organizations start the onboarding process even before the new employee’s start date of employment to smooth the transition process. Top concerns related to onboarding included retaining new employees, increasing their productivity and improving the reputation of the company as an employer of choice.
A complimentary copy of the Aberdeen report has been made available by SilkRoad and other sponsors at: http://www.aberdeen.com/link/sponsor.asp?cid=5729.
“We have long joined others in the HR industry to tout the importance of formalized onboarding programs, and this study underscores how they can contribute to improvements in efficiency and engagement,” said SilkRoad technology CEO Andrew J. “Flip” Filipowski. “One of our products, RedCarpet, provides massive increases in new hire satisfaction and day one readiness for many of our clients, ultimately keeping employee morale and productivity high while automating time-consuming HR tasks.”
SilkRoad provides a suite of Web-based talent management solutions, including RedCarpet, an onboarding and life events management solution that automates the socialization and transition of employees into their new roles while alleviating the burden and cost of paperwork and task management, saving companies time and money. Other SilkRoad products include OpenHire, a market-leading recruiting management solution, WingSpan for flexible employee performance management, GreenLight for learning management, and Eprise for employee intranets and content management.
“It is very clear that for a majority of Best-in-Class organizations, onboarding is the continuation of the recruitment process well into the first year of a new employee’s tenure with the company,” noted the co-author of the report, Kevin Martin, vice president and principal analyst, Human Capital Management at Aberdeen. “If they haven’t done so already, these organizations seek to integrate onboarding with recruitment and performance management. At these companies, onboarding not only improves hiring quality and efficiencies, but also increases the new employee’s ability to contribute productively in a timely manner.”
