SilkRoad technology, inc., the creator of the popular Life Suite of web-based talent management solutions and leading provider of talent management solutions, announced today that it has closed on a $40 million equity round of capital.  The investment was led by new investors Intel Capital and Tenaya Capital and includes existing investors Foundation Capital, Azure Capital and SilkRoad Equity. 

Plans for the current round of capital include a significant expansion of SilkRoad’s worldwide direct sales and marketing efforts, strategic acquisitions and continued product development.

SilkRoad technology, a leading provider of talent management solutions, announced recently its Life Suite has been selected as the winner of a prestigious CODiE Award for the “Best Human Capital Management Solution” by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA).

The Life Suite was reviewed by members of SIIA and voted on as the winner in the category. The announcement came at a special CODiE Awards luncheon held May 11th in conjunction with the All About the Cloud conference in San Francisco.

More than 785 nominations were submitted and narrowed down to 188 products for the finalists. Of the 188 finalists, 34 winners were announced. Nominated products underwent an intensive review by subject matter experts, analysts, journalists, and others with deep experience in the field.

SilkRoad had a record Q3 with its dominant recruitment management and retention strategy solutions, OpenHire and RedCarpet, driving more effective talent acquisition through the use of social networks and strategic talent brand management. Healthfirst, US Oncology, Inc., and Wake Forest University all purchased both OpenHire, for recruiting management and RedCarpet, for employee onboarding and life events. Other clients purchasing the Life Suite included: Life Style Family Fitness, Pratt Institute, USAble Life, CentralCare, Cook Children’s Health Care System, Renal Ventures Management, LLC, SIRVA, and Summa Health System.

At the annual HR Technology Conference in September, SilkRoad announced a new proprietary Software as a Service Core HR solution that will join its award-winning Life Suite.  The new product, HeartBeat, allows secure and reliable access to key HR information for both employees and management by creating a “system of record” to store all employees’ core data. 

With HeartBeat, both workers and managers have access to and can act on HR information relevant to them.  The core HR system also allows for easy creation of analytics and reporting, from complete organizational charts and headcount reports to specific business unit and work analytics, offering insight and strategic value in managing enterprise human capital.

This quarter SilkRoad also announced the availability of the first interactive talent management assessment tool designed specifically for the Human Resources industry. SilkRoad’s talent management benchmark tool, which is free to users, allows organizations to compare their performance against companies from around the world.  The benchmark tool was created in partnership with Aberdeen Group and will help companies identify areas for improvement across their talent management portfolios. In order to compile the data used in this tool, Aberdeen collected and analyzed data, including over 640,000 data points, from more than three thousand organizations around the world.

At the end of September, SilkRoad received a top ranking in the 2009 Aberdeen AXIS report for Talent Acquisition Systems. The AXIS report provides a Best-in-Class performance evaluation, and assessment of each vendor’s market readiness as determined by over 250 evaluation criteria. “We are extremely proud to not only be included in this report, but to be a clear market leader for Applicant Tracking and Talent Acquisitions,” said Brian Platz, SilkRoad COO.

SilkRoad also extended its alliance with Monster, the leading global online careers and recruitment resource, to provide real-time posting tools into the OpenHire recruiting management solution. With the real-time posting feature, customers can post jobs from OpenHire to Monster in real-time, making job postings available to jobseekers sooner than ever before. Additionally, SilkRoad has been able to take advantage of some of Monster’s advanced integration components, allowing organizations to view available inventory in real-time without ever leaving OpenHire.

In April, SilkRoad joined Jobfox in the introduction of ResumePal, the recruiting industry’s first universally accepted online employment application.  ResumePal works seamlessly with SilkRoad’s recruiting management system, OpenHire, and revolutionizes the way applicants and employers connect by eliminating time spent completing forms and allowing employers to get more accurate candidate information.  By completing a one-time online career profile, job seekers are able to apply at multiple companies by submitting with two clicks, instead of completing separate applications for each job listing.

Additionally, this quarter SilkRoad partnered with Simply Hired, the world’s largest job search engine and advertising recruitment network, allowing SilkRoad customers to even further expand their reach. Jobs indexed by Simply Hired through OpenHire will provide customers the ability to distribute and include their jobs in the organic listings on Simply Hired’s network of over 5000 new locations, including social networking sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Plaxo. The partnership allows SilkRoad customers to reach both active and passive job seekers in new and innovative ways.

New Q2 2009 OpenHire clients include: Applied Extrusion Technologies, Inc., Arista Care Health Services, and SWBC.  

SilkRoad also announced a partnership with Deltek, Inc., the top provider of enterprise applications software for project-focused businesses, in May. The partnership makes SilkRoad’s talent management solutions more accessible to the government contractor market and other project-based industries such as accounting and engineering.  The companies have long maintained a strong relationship but this partnership provides an even stronger integration between Deltek’s market leading HRIS solution Costpoint, and SilkRoad’s Life Suite. Organizations using blogs, wikis, internal social networks and other online collaboration tools throughout the talent management lifecycle demonstrated a 39 percent reduction in training costs while improving engagement and quality of hire by 33 percent according to a recent Aberdeen Group study sponsored in part by SilkRoad technology, inc., the leading provider of talent management solutions. The study, “HR Executive’s Guide to Web 2.0: Cracking the Code for Talent Management” provides a roadmap to Web 2.0 tools and examines how leading organizations achieve success by using social networking technologies throughout the talent management lifecycle.

Aberdeen interviewed well over 500 organizations for the study and found organizations utilizing Web 2.0 tools were twice as likely to achieve Aberdeen’s Best-in-Class designation. The report found 55 percent of all organizations that achieved the Best-in-Class designation utilized Web 2.0 tools to facilitate knowledge transfer and 36 percent used the tools to connect employees with colleagues within the organization. Social networking strategies used include company forums, employee communities, enterprise social networking, and employee profile pages.

“Organizations utilizing key social networking tools internally, such as employee forums/discussion groups and internal employee communities achieved a 37% year-over-year improvement in engagement – over three times the improvement seen by organizations not utilizing these technologies,” said Mollie Lombardi, research analyst, human capital management at Aberdeen and co-author of the report.
