HRchitect includes Kronos in our list of top Talent Acquisition Systems that organizations should consider. If you are looking for a new Talent Management System, or any HR system, don’t rely solely on “recommendations” or published reports. Do yourself a huge favor and talk to HRchitect first. Continuing to deliver on its commitment to develop the next generation of workforce management, Kronos Incorporated recently announced the release of Kronos® Workforce Analytics for Healthcare™, a fully integrated analytics and decision support solution that gives healthcare providers access to all relevant workforce and operational data in one easy-to-use platform. This enables providers to make more intelligent, fact-based decisions while maximizing high-quality patient care within the most advanced, clinically focused workforce management suite on the market today.

News Facts

  • Many healthcare organizations do not leverage analytics to control and improve upon their largest manageable expense – their workforce.
  • To make informed decisions, healthcare providers need to align their workforce data with operational data such as census figures, acuity, billing information, incident reports, and outcomes data. Workforce Analytics for Healthcare consolidates this information into one intuitive dashboard that enables healthcare providers to leverage their workforce data as a competitive advantage and make informed decisions for business growth.
  • Workforce Analytics for Healthcare allows healthcare organizations to answer critical questions about how absence affects the delivery of quality care, the impact of overtime on patient outcomes, and whether or not shift length is contributing to errors or negatively impacting patient safety.
  • Key features of the Workforce Analytics for Healthcare solution include:
  • An intuitive, graphical management dashboard that enables users to view all relevant information in one view and make better labor decisions.
  • The ability to create and edit ad-hoc reports in minutes with an easy-to-use graphical interface and without the assistance of IT or Kronos.
  • Built-in, sophisticated security features that provide personalized intelligence, enabling employees at all levels to have necessary data to make fact-based decisions, while at the same time limiting access to minimize compliance and privacy concerns.
  • Real-time visibility into workforce issues so questions about labor costs and workforce needs can be addressed immediately and not just at the end of the week or month when problems have already occurred. Workforce Analytics for Healthcare provides granular alerts as outliers are occurring so they can be fixed well before they become problematic trends.
  • Workforce Analytics for Healthcare will be available in March.

Supporting Quotes

  • Brian Graves, global practice leader, healthcare practice group, Kronos
“Healthcare decision makers have access to so much data in so many formats that it can be overwhelming and confusing to sort through. The new Kronos Workforce Analytics for Healthcare solution consolidates all of that data, enabling better, fact-based, real-time decisions, and ultimately improving the overall quality of patient care.”
  • Mark Smith, CEO and EVP Research, Ventana Research
“The use of analytics in business is pervasive, but it is surprising how few organizations are using analytics to more effectively manage their workforce. With its easy-to-use interface, deep functionality, and rock-solid reliability, Kronos Workforce Analytics for Healthcare may finally encourage those healthcare organizations that are not yet using analytics to make that leap.”

WorkForce Software Achieves Record Revenue Growth, Expanded Client Base in 2011…from WorkForce Software

February 15, 2012

Leader in Workforce Management Solutions Gained Significant Momentum through Marquee Signings, New Product Offerings and High Renewal Rates

Marc Moschetto, Vice President of Marketing, from WorkForce Software appeared on the HRchitect WebMingle on August 12, 2010. HRchitect’s Matt Lafata, one of the industry’s leading Talent Management Systems analysts, attended WorkForce Software’s Vision 2010 conference.

If you are looking for a new Talent Management System, or any HR system, don’t rely solely on “recommendations” or published reports. Do yourself a huge favor and talk to HRchitect first. After 15 years, HRchitect has unparalleled knowledge of the HR and Talent Management vendor community and can save you time and money in selection and implementation. Simply put, do not invest in any kind of HR technology without consulting with the experts first. HRchitect is always available to help!

WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and stringent compliance demands, today shared details of its 2011 results. During a time of economic uncertainty, WorkForce Software achieved record-setting revenue growth, significant new client wins among large enterprises, and a continued high rate of client renewals. The company also secured $17 million in new funding, increased hiring and product investments, and expanded into new markets in what was a banner year across all aspects of the business.

Record-Setting Growth

Led by strong demand for its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based deployment model, WorkForce Software recorded 75% bookings growth and 33% revenue growth in 2011.  Bookings growth was led by SaaS bookings, which jumped a dramatic 118% over the previous year, as client demand confirmed SaaS is the preferred delivery method for enterprise workforce management solutions.

Innovative Products, New Markets

Several buying trends reshaped the way organizations prioritized and purchased workforce management solutions in 2011. Where time and attendance was once at the center of every solution purchase, employers are now looking at the business impact of leave and absence management as a primary driver for automation.

Reflective of this shift, WorkForce Software’s leading absence management solution–EmpCenter® Absence Compliance Tracker (ACT)–was selected as a standalone solution for large clients in the retail and healthcare industries. ACT’s ability to manage all federal, state, municipal, corporate and union leave policies, and the ability to provide ongoing compliance assurance through a unique regulatory update service, delivers a holistic approach that commodity-grade absence or Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) tracking modules cannot support.

Similarly, 2011 marked a dramatic uptick in employee fatigue regulations and concerns.   Petrochemical and pipeline companies turned to WorkForce Software’s pre-configured EmpCenter Fatigue Management Compliance Paks to streamline compliance with new regulations and operating guidelines specifically tailored to their distinct work environments.

Capital Infusion Accelerates Investment

In November 2011, WorkForce Software also announced that it raised $17 million in Series A and mezzanine capital.  Investors K1 Capital and Triangle Capital (NYSE:TCAP) were attracted to the company due to its 97% client retention rate, significant new client growth and ongoing commitment to product innovation. The company will use this investment to expand its sales and marketing presence globally while accelerating research and development efforts and speeding time-to-market for new solutions.

Diverse New Clients

In 2011, WorkForce Software gained new clients from a diverse range of industries, including manufacturing, higher education, energy, retail, health care, and the public sector. Marquee clients include two of the leading digital imaging technology providers, an entertainment company operating water and amusement parks in ten states and provinces, a healthcare chain that operates hospitals in twelve states, a major US-based airline with more than 75,000 employees, and one of Canada’s “Big Five” banks.

Additionally, WorkForce Software extended its leadership in K-12 and higher education. More than a dozen colleges, universities, and school districts selected EmpCenter for its unmatched ability to handle industry-specific requirements such as multiple assignments and grant tracking without custom code.

Strategic Partnerships

WorkForce Software also recently announced two key partnerships.  WorkForce Software joined the SuccessFactors Partner Program as a Strategic SuccessCloud Partner.  The partnership enables SuccessFactors clients to automate complex labor policies, ensure compliance with absence and other regulations, and drive further insight into their workforce.   WorkForce Software and Patersons, a leading provider of global payroll solutions also announced a strategic partnership that further expands the company’s global footprint and enables large multi-nationals to seamlessly manage their workforce and payroll processes and ensure compliance with local regulations around the world.  WorkForce Software and Patersons’ first joint client, a complex, multi-national manufacturing firm will utilize the joint WorkForce and Patersons solution in 20 countries in Europe and Asia.

Bill Kutik, leading independent noted industry analyst and technology columnist at “Human Resource Executive,” stated, “Workforce management technologies – and the data they provide – play an increasingly strategic role in the long-term operation of a business. In this context, the ability to connect a robust workforce management suite with other human capital management systems will become more valuable to HR practitioners.”

Workforce Management and ‘Thinking Beyond the Paycheck’

As both mid-sized and large enterprises have moved toward solutions that deliver more than just ‘punch in, punch out’ automation, organizations recognize the benefits of deploying end-to-end workforce management platforms to better understand and manage their labor activities. As a result, the majority of the WorkForce Software’s new clients in 2011 purchased multiple EmpCenter products for their initial rollouts.

In The Top Five Processes for Human Capital Management, 2011, published on August 8, 2011, Gartner analysts Jim Holincheck and Thomas Otter observed that “workforce management is crucial for managing labor costs (which can be between 20% to 70% of total expenses for most enterprises). This can be a complex undertaking, especially for organizations with large percentages of hourly workers, unionized workers and/or multinational operations.” The analysts go on to note that “in highly competitive markets, these cost savings can provide competitive advantages, and can be the difference between profit and loss.”

As evidence of this trend, most of WorkForce Software’s new clients are upgrading from an existing workforce management system versus automating workforce management for the first time. When their existing solutions could no longer meet their needs, these companies turned to WorkForce Software.

“WorkForce Software was the vendor of choice in numerous highly competitive evaluations in 2011,” said Kevin Choksi, WorkForce Software CEO and co-founder. “EmpCenter offers the tools organizations need today to automate all aspects of workforce management with the flexibility that prepares them for any future changes, and that combination has resonated powerfully in the marketplace. We’re thrilled with our performance in 2011 and, given the strong momentum we’re carrying in to the new year, we expect 2012 to be a banner year as well.”

Kronos Incorporated recently announced the December release of the Kronos Retail Labor Index™, a family of metrics and indices that characterize the current state of the demand and supply sides of the labor market within the U.S. retail sector. The December report includes data for November 2011. The analysis and write-up is prepared by Macroeconomic Advisers LLC, and is available on the Kronos Retail Labor Index website.

News Facts

The Kronos Retail Labor Index: (This index is defined as the ratio of hires to applicants within a given month, expressed as a percentage. A level of 3.0 percent means that for every 100 applications received, three hires occurred). The Kronos Retail Labor Index rose to 4.2 percent in November 2011 from a downwardly revised 3.5 percent in October. This was the highest reading since October 2008 and the second reading of 4.0 percent or higher in the last three months.

Retail Hiring Level: The retailers representing 18,362 distributed locations across the U.S. that make up the Kronos® data sample made 34,491 hires (seasonally adjusted) in November 2011, up 7.1 percent from a downwardly revised 32,205 hires in October 2011. The level of hires in November was roughly 8 percent above the 2010 average, continuing to indicate modest improvement following sharp declines during the recession.

Retail Applications Level: The number of applications received by retailers included in the Kronos sample declined 10.8 percent to 812,673 in November 2011, from an upwardly revised 911,552 in October 2011, all on a seasonally adjusted basis. The decline in November brought monthly applications to the lowest level in more than four years, nearly 17 percent below the mid-2009 peak.

Retail 60-Day Retention Rate: The 60-day retention rate, measured as the number of hires who remain employed for at least the first 60 days divided by the total number of hires made in that month, edged up to 84.4 percent (seasonally adjusted) in July from 83.3 percent in June (Note: There is a four-month lag on this indicator as two months are required to measure whether a hire remained employed for 60 days and Kronos customers have two months to return data on separations.)

SaaShr.com Expands Marketplace with Recruitment Module for HR Application…from SaaShr.com

October 29, 2011

Recruitment module can help small to mid-sized businesses establish a more uniform recruiting process by improving problems associated with hiring efforts.

If you are looking for a new Talent Management System, or any HR system, don’t rely solely on “recommendations” or published reports. Do yourself a huge favor and talk to HRchitect first. After 14 years, HRchitect has unparalleled knowledge of the HR and Talent Management vendor community and can save you time and money in selection and implementation. Simply put, do not invest in any kind of HR technology without consulting with the experts first. HRchitect is always available to help!

SaaShr.com (http://www.SaaShr.com), a leading provider of Software as a Service (SaaS) based Workforce Management Solutions with a major focus in Human Resources (HR), Payroll, and Time and Labor Management (TLM), announced today the release of its recruitment module as part of its Ancillary Product and Service Marketplace for licensees and users of the company’s HR application. Complementary to the applicant tracking component in the HR application, the recruitment module offers a powerful solution to help address recruiting challenges faced by small to mid-sized businesses.

“Many companies in the small to mid-sized business space are struggling to hire qualified job candidates in a simple, efficient, and consistent manner due to a shortage of recruiting or HR-related resources,” stated Chad Brenneman, President of the HR and Payroll Division at SaaShr.com. A 2010 survey conducted by Manpower Group, an employment services company, concluded that the percentage of employers who have had difficulties finding qualified candidates had increased by almost half since 2006. Brenneman continued, “As the economy begins to rebound, the number of companies in this segment are expected to increase hiring efforts, thus the demand for solutions to resolve recruitment issues is expected to rise as well.”

According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are 3.2 million unfilled job positions in the United States, however 9.1 percent of the population is currently unemployed. “The recruitment module can help bridge the gap between the unemployment numbers and the number of available positions by streamlining hiring processes for those companies that are currently hiring and in need of a solution,” Brenneman added.

With the SaaShr.com recruitment module, applicants can upload a resume or include previous work experience, quantify their level of proficiency with a multitude of skills, list references, and include compensation requirements. Administrators, recruiters, and hiring managers can easily view that applicant’s information through a summarized view. This information is then compared with the criteria required for the position in order to zero-in on the best job applicants.

“The recruitment module provides companies with the means for making better hiring decisions faster and easier than in the past. Essentially, it can help to create a more uniform recruiting process for the businesses that lack the tools and resources necessary to effectively manage recruitment initiatives,” Brenneman concluded.

WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and stringent compliance demands, and CRS Advanced Technology, developer of the industry-leading SubFinder absence management and substitute placement solution, today announced a strategic alliance and software integration program which will streamline both absence management and time and attendance processes for K-12 institutions.

The integration between SubFinder and WorkForce Software’s EmpCenter workforce management suite will automate the process of transferring critical absence and substitute “time worked” data from SubFinder to the EmpCenter solution. This automated process eliminates the need for manual data entry and improves the accuracy of employee time, attendance and substitute scheduling processes, all of which are critical for payroll processing and other Human Resources functions.

“In today’s economy, K-12 school districts face a particularly challenging situation: contain costs while delivering a positive educational experience for students,” said Kathy Cannon, WorkForce Software co-founder and VP Product Management. “Through this partnership, we can help school systems to achieve these goals by transforming time-consuming and error-prone manual processes into a fully-automated, more accurate way to pay employees. As a result, administrative staff can focus more time – and more resources – on that which matters most: the students.”

“With more than two decades of serving the absence management needs of the K-12 community, and serving over 1,000 organizations, CRS understands the critical back-office needs of educational institutions,” said Pete Lupacchino, Vice President and General Manager of CRS. “By partnering with companies like WorkForce Software that share the goal of simplifying and improving administrative functions within these organizations, we can provide integrated solutions to deliver a potent cost-cutting and time-saving combination.”
