WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and stringent compliance demands, today shared details of its 2011 results. During a time of economic uncertainty, WorkForce Software achieved record-setting revenue growth, significant new client wins among large enterprises, and a continued high rate of client renewals. The company also secured $17 million in new funding, increased hiring and product investments, and expanded into new markets in what was a banner year across all aspects of the business.

Record-Setting Growth

Led by strong demand for its Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based deployment model, WorkForce Software recorded 75% bookings growth and 33% revenue growth in 2011.  Bookings growth was led by SaaS bookings, which jumped a dramatic 118% over the previous year, as client demand confirmed SaaS is the preferred delivery method for enterprise workforce management solutions.

Innovative Products, New Markets

Several buying trends reshaped the way organizations prioritized and purchased workforce management solutions in 2011. Where time and attendance was once at the center of every solution purchase, employers are now looking at the business impact of leave and absence management as a primary driver for automation.

Reflective of this shift, WorkForce Software’s leading absence management solution–EmpCenter® Absence Compliance Tracker (ACT)–was selected as a standalone solution for large clients in the retail and healthcare industries. ACT’s ability to manage all federal, state, municipal, corporate and union leave policies, and the ability to provide ongoing compliance assurance through a unique regulatory update service, delivers a holistic approach that commodity-grade absence or Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) tracking modules cannot support.

Similarly, 2011 marked a dramatic uptick in employee fatigue regulations and concerns.   Petrochemical and pipeline companies turned to WorkForce Software’s pre-configured EmpCenter Fatigue Management Compliance Paks to streamline compliance with new regulations and operating guidelines specifically tailored to their distinct work environments.

Capital Infusion Accelerates Investment

In November 2011, WorkForce Software also announced that it raised $17 million in Series A and mezzanine capital.  Investors K1 Capital and Triangle Capital (NYSE:TCAP) were attracted to the company due to its 97% client retention rate, significant new client growth and ongoing commitment to product innovation. The company will use this investment to expand its sales and marketing presence globally while accelerating research and development efforts and speeding time-to-market for new solutions.

Diverse New Clients

In 2011, WorkForce Software gained new clients from a diverse range of industries, including manufacturing, higher education, energy, retail, health care, and the public sector. Marquee clients include two of the leading digital imaging technology providers, an entertainment company operating water and amusement parks in ten states and provinces, a healthcare chain that operates hospitals in twelve states, a major US-based airline with more than 75,000 employees, and one of Canada’s “Big Five” banks.

Additionally, WorkForce Software extended its leadership in K-12 and higher education. More than a dozen colleges, universities, and school districts selected EmpCenter for its unmatched ability to handle industry-specific requirements such as multiple assignments and grant tracking without custom code.

Strategic Partnerships

WorkForce Software also recently announced two key partnerships.  WorkForce Software joined the SuccessFactors Partner Program as a Strategic SuccessCloud Partner.  The partnership enables SuccessFactors clients to automate complex labor policies, ensure compliance with absence and other regulations, and drive further insight into their workforce.   WorkForce Software and Patersons, a leading provider of global payroll solutions also announced a strategic partnership that further expands the company’s global footprint and enables large multi-nationals to seamlessly manage their workforce and payroll processes and ensure compliance with local regulations around the world.  WorkForce Software and Patersons’ first joint client, a complex, multi-national manufacturing firm will utilize the joint WorkForce and Patersons solution in 20 countries in Europe and Asia.

Bill Kutik, leading independent noted industry analyst and technology columnist at “Human Resource Executive,” stated, “Workforce management technologies – and the data they provide – play an increasingly strategic role in the long-term operation of a business. In this context, the ability to connect a robust workforce management suite with other human capital management systems will become more valuable to HR practitioners.”

Workforce Management and ‘Thinking Beyond the Paycheck’

As both mid-sized and large enterprises have moved toward solutions that deliver more than just ‘punch in, punch out’ automation, organizations recognize the benefits of deploying end-to-end workforce management platforms to better understand and manage their labor activities. As a result, the majority of the WorkForce Software’s new clients in 2011 purchased multiple EmpCenter products for their initial rollouts.

In The Top Five Processes for Human Capital Management, 2011, published on August 8, 2011, Gartner analysts Jim Holincheck and Thomas Otter observed that “workforce management is crucial for managing labor costs (which can be between 20% to 70% of total expenses for most enterprises). This can be a complex undertaking, especially for organizations with large percentages of hourly workers, unionized workers and/or multinational operations.” The analysts go on to note that “in highly competitive markets, these cost savings can provide competitive advantages, and can be the difference between profit and loss.”

As evidence of this trend, most of WorkForce Software’s new clients are upgrading from an existing workforce management system versus automating workforce management for the first time. When their existing solutions could no longer meet their needs, these companies turned to WorkForce Software.

“WorkForce Software was the vendor of choice in numerous highly competitive evaluations in 2011,” said Kevin Choksi, WorkForce Software CEO and co-founder. “EmpCenter offers the tools organizations need today to automate all aspects of workforce management with the flexibility that prepares them for any future changes, and that combination has resonated powerfully in the marketplace. We’re thrilled with our performance in 2011 and, given the strong momentum we’re carrying in to the new year, we expect 2012 to be a banner year as well.”

Streamline Workforce Management & Absence Management Processes for K-12 Institutions

WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and stringent compliance demands, and CRS Advanced Technology, developer of the industry-leading SubFinder absence management and substitute placement solution, today announced a strategic alliance and software integration program which will streamline both absence management and time and attendance processes for K-12 institutions.

The integration between SubFinder and WorkForce Software’s EmpCenter workforce management suite will automate the process of transferring critical absence and substitute “time worked” data from SubFinder to the EmpCenter solution. This automated process eliminates the need for manual data entry and improves the accuracy of employee time, attendance and substitute scheduling processes, all of which are critical for payroll processing and other Human Resources functions.

“In today’s economy, K-12 school districts face a particularly challenging situation: contain costs while delivering a positive educational experience for students,” said Kathy Cannon, WorkForce Software co-founder and VP Product Management. “Through this partnership, we can help school systems to achieve these goals by transforming time-consuming and error-prone manual processes into a fully-automated, more accurate way to pay employees. As a result, administrative staff can focus more time – and more resources – on that which matters most: the students.”

“With more than two decades of serving the absence management needs of the K-12 community, and serving over 1,000 organizations, CRS understands the critical back-office needs of educational institutions,” said Pete Lupacchino, Vice President and General Manager of CRS. “By partnering with companies like WorkForce Software that share the goal of simplifying and improving administrative functions within these organizations, we can provide integrated solutions to deliver a potent cost-cutting and time-saving combination.”

WorkForce Software Achieves Inc 5000 ranking in Fifth-Straight Year…from WorkForce Software

September 8, 2011

Achievement recognizes pace-setting growth in workforce management

Marc Moschetto, Vice President of Marketing, from WorkForce Software appeared on the HRchitect WebMingle on August 12, 2010. HRchitect’s Matt Lafata, one of the industry’s leading Talent Management Systems analysts, attended WorkForce Software’s Vision 2010 conference.

If you are looking for a new Talent Management System, or any HR system, don’t rely solely on “recommendations” or published reports. Do yourself a huge favor and talk to HRchitect first. WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and stringent compliance demands, announces that it has earned a spot on Inc.’s prestigious 500|5000 list for the fifth consecutive year.

An exclusive ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies, the Inc. 500|5000 list represents the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy—America’s independent entrepreneurs. WorkForce Software joins Spirit Airlines, Vizio, Honest Tea, and Dunkin Donuts, among other prominent brands featured on this year’s list.

Propelled by 98% growth over the last three years, WorkForce Software achieved rankings of #173 in the software industry and #2426 overall in the 2011 list. The company’s consistent growth has accelerated in 2011, as well, rising 61% over 2010 results through the first two quarters. Strong sales of its EmpCenter® workforce management suite, boosted by the release of an industry-leading absence management solution and record levels of client renewals and re-investments, contributed to the company’s recent success.

“There are few distinctions as widely read and regarded as Inc’s 500|5000 list, and it is quite an honor to be ranked among the fastest growing private businesses for a fifth year in a row,” noted Kevin Choksi, WorkForce Software’s President & CEO. “That we’ve been able to sustain rapid growth throughout our 12-year history is a testament to our employees’ investment in making our clients successful, to our clients’ extraordinary spirit of partnership, and to our strategy of delivering the most flexible and complete workforce management solutions on the market.”

In a stagnant economic environment, median growth rate of 2011 Inc. 500|5000 companies remains an impressive 94 percent. The companies on this year’s list report having created 350,000 jobs in the past three years, and aggregate revenue among the honorees reached $366 billion, up 14 percent from last year.

“Now, more than ever, we depend on Inc. 500/5000 companies to spur innovation, provide jobs, and drive the economy forward.  Growth companies, not large corporations, are where the action is,” says Inc. magazine Editor Jane Berentson.

WorkForce Software’s span of multi-year growth also coincides with a dramatic transformation of the HR function. Historically a tactical department, HR is increasingly asked to deliver measurable results and competitive advantage for the organization. To perform this more strategic role, HR needs greater insight into the activities and effectiveness of their global workforce – a level of visibility only possible through best-in-class solutions such as WorkForce Software’s EmpCenter.

Gartner Research analysts Jim Holincheck and Thomas Otter observed this shift in a July 2011 report, noting that, “Since 2004, the focus for most HR organizations has shifted away from system of record applications (as embodied by core HR management system [HRMS] solutions) to systems of differentiation (embodied by talent management or workforce management applications).”

WorkForce Software Announces Accelerating Growth, Record-Breaking Second Quarter…from WorkForce Software

August 13, 2011

EmpCenter suite enjoys significant gains as ‘solution of choice’ for large employers

Howard Tarnoff, Senior Vice President, and Marc Moschetto, Vice President of Marketing, from WorkForce Software appeared on the HRchitect WebMingle on August 12, 2010.

After 14 years, HRchitect has unparalleled knowledge of the HR and Talent Management vendor community and can save you time and money in selection and implementation. Simply put, do not invest in any kind of HR technology without consulting with the experts first. HRchitect is always available to help!

WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and stringent compliance demands, announces record-breaking revenues and net income for the second quarter and first half of 2011. Accelerating momentum in several verticals, continued growth in deployments to professional environments, multi-application purchases by new clients, and the acquisition of numerous large, global clients all contributed to the company’s exceptional growth. In the first half of 2011, WorkForce Software recorded a record net income, bolstered by a 61% increase in revenue, the company’s highest in its 12-year history. The company continues to maintain a strong balance sheet and its committed backlog and recurring revenue also reached record levels.

Adoption Accelerates Among Enterprise Clients
Numerous clients selected the EmpCenter® workforce management suite in the first half of 2011, representing a broad range of industries including manufacturing, higher education, energy, utilities, and the public sector. With an average size of more than 7,700 employees, these clients were predominantly large employers with complex workforce management needs. Included in WorkForce’s latest clientele are one of the “Big Five” Canadian banks, a Global 500 electronics manufacturer, and a commercial and consumer products manufacturer with 19,000 employees and more than a dozen household brands.

Mid-market organizations are also selecting EmpCenter in record numbers, with many taking advantage of the same configurability of their larger peers while also benefiting from the solution’s ease of use and rapid deployment capabilities. WorkForce’s momentum is also driven by its unique ability to deliver licensed solutions behind the customer’s firewall and on a SaaS model, which is more common in mid-sized clients. Demonstrating its industry-leading scalability, organizations ranging in size from 1,000 to 45,000 employees selected WorkForce Software for workforce management in the 2nd quarter. One commonality across the spectrum of industries and company sizes is a more sophisticated set of goals driving workforce management initiatives.

EmpCenter Buyers have Strategic Aims
WorkForce Software’s tremendous first half signaled a shift among mid-sized and large enterprises towards solutions that deliver far more than ‘punch in, punch out’ automation. As evidence of this shift, all of WorkForce’s recent clients will be deploying EmpCenter to their professional staff, in environments such as banks, high tech firms, and educational institutions in order to understand and manage their labor activities. The majority of clients that selected WorkForce Software in the first half of 2011 will also be leveraging multiple EmpCenter products in the initial rollout, recognizing the tremendous business value of advanced scheduling, absence management, and labor analytics capabilities tied into the corporate time & attendance platform.

“We’re seeing a strong push for more strategic approaches to workforce management,” commented Kevin Choksi, WorkForce Software’s CEO. “Increasingly, HR departments are looking to gain greater insight through labor analytics and take a proactive approach to managing compliance with leave regulations, while streamlining their workforce processes. This shift has greatly benefited WorkForce Software because we uniquely combine an uncompromising solution with a team of workforce management experts that bring years of compliance and workforce management experience to our clients.”

EmpCenter’s broad suite and enterprise-grade capabilities are emerging as the best fit for the new, strategic buyer of workforce management solutions. In late 2010*, Gartner analyst Jim Holincheck reported that, “Customers have implemented niche workforce management solutions for many years.  Often, those implementations were site-specific, resulting in a hodgepodge of different solutions from different vendors. Increasingly, we see organizations looking at consolidating these systems and standardizing their labor management practices.”

Industry Leadership through Unmatched Configurability
WorkForce Software also saw a surge of interest in several industries characterized by unique requirements that few other vendors can address. In higher education, for example, EmpCenter’s multiple assignments capability manages student employee schedules with multiple positions with ease, a process that is heavily manual and error-prone with systems from other vendors. WorkForce Software added seven large higher education clients in the first half of 2011, representing approximately 20,000 employees and operating nearly a dozen campuses across the country.

Similarly, energy and utilities firms have extensive and overlapping pay rules that apply in different scenarios, scores of which come into play for remote and field workers. These rules are often union-negotiated and can change over time to comply with new union agreements or state and provincial requirements. EmpCenter manages all of these pay and regulatory rules entirely through configuration, which delivers full automation for even the most complex environments and reduces the cost of ownership as needs change.

“We’re excited about the potential associated with our new partnership with WorkForce Software,” said Thomas P. Jansen, Chief Information Officer at Central Hudson Gas & Electric. “Our field employees have dozens of unique labor contract rules that require manual validation with other time and labor systems. We evaluated a lot of options before selecting EmpCenter as the solution that we anticipate will best meet our needs without the need for custom code.”

“EmpCenter offers unparalleled flexibility through the most robust rules engine in the industry,” noted Kathy Cannon, WorkForce Software’s co-founder and VP of Product Management. “This distinction has earned a groundswell of attention and interest in industries that had historically struggled to manage time and labor automation, not to mention compliance demands. The first two quarters of 2011 saw WorkForce Software further consolidate leadership positions in higher education and energy, as it becomes clear that EmpCenter can truly deliver the advantages of automation.”

WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and stringent compliance demands, announces that it has been selected as a winner of Red Herring’s 2011 Top 100 North America award, a prestigious list honoring the year’s most promising private technology ventures from the North American business region.

Red Herring’s Top 100 North America list has become a mark of distinction for identifying promising new companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring editors were among the first to recognize that companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube, and eBay would change the way we live and work.

“Choosing the companies with the strongest potential was by no means a small feat,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “After rigorous contemplation and discussion, we narrowed our list down from hundreds of candidates from across North America to the Top 100 Winners. We believe WorkForce Software embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture. In the first quarter of 2011, WorkForce Software recorded its largest revenue and net income in company history.  Historic highs in new business sales, customers expanding their use of EmpCenter, and sales of new products and extensions to existing customers contributed to WorkForce Software’s record-breaking quarter.  Total revenues were up by 33% sequentially from the fourth quarter of 2010, and represented a gain of 55% compared with the same period in 2010.  SaaS revenues continued to outpace other areas, increasing by 67% on a year-over-year basis.

Additions to the WorkForce Software client base during Q1 2011 include CML HealthCare and Canon U.S.A. During this period, the company also experienced significant upgrades and purchases of additional WorkForce Software solutions within the existing client base. Furthermore, the company continues to expand aggressively within Canada and other select geographies as part of the company’s global expansion.

“We are very excited to enter 2011 with such early success and momentum,” commented WorkForce Software CEO and co-founder Kevin Choksi.  “During 2010, we focused on developing new technologies to address growing Human Resources issues – such as employee absence and leave management, employee fatigue management and applications for mobile devices. Through these ongoing R&D efforts, as well as maintaining a close relationship with our growing client base, we have been able to keep pace with the tactical and strategic needs of the marketplace.”

Diverse New Clients, Expanded Suite Drive 2010 Momentum
Significant wins across a diverse array of industries marked the 11th straight year of sales growth for EmpCenter’s core suite of time & attendance, labor scheduling, and labor analytics applications. More than a dozen large enterprises – such as Newell Rubbermaid and Taylor Corporation – selected EmpCenter Time & Attendance to automate 100% of their complex workforce challenges, while numerous mid-sized organizations took advantage of the rapid deployment time and leading flexibility of EmpCenter® Express.

EmpCenter Absence Compliance Tracker® (ACT) – announced at the 2010 HR Technology Conference & Expo – further accelerated WorkForce Software’s rapid growth and rounded out EmpCenter’s end-to-end strategic workforce management suite. ACT received immediate traction among existing clients and the broader market and serves as a strong growth engine in early 2011 success.

Mobile and SaaS Herald Next Generation WFM
Recognizing the transformative impact of smartphone adoption in today’s workplace, WorkForce Software launched its first mobile application, EmpCenter To Go, in 2010.  Intuitive and standards-based, the solution delivers powerful self-service capabilities in the palm of a manager’s or employee’s hands and enables users to perform critical time and labor functions without requiring access to a computer. Organizations across a variety of industries, including a global consumer electronics manufacturer and a large Florida K-12 school district, have selected EmpCenter To Go to empower managers with a solution aligned to the growing reliance on smartphones in their day-to-day operations.

As further evidence of workforce management’s rapid evolution, demand for SaaS-based solutions eclipsed other buying trends in 2010. New customers repeatedly opted for EmpCenter Delivered to leverage WorkForce Software’s enterprise-grade SAS 70 hosted environment, which now represents the clear majority of EmpCenter deployments.

“When we launched EmpCenter Delivered, we recognized that SaaS was the future of enterprise software,” noted Kathy Cannon, WorkForce Software’s co-founder and Vice President of Product Management. “Less than 24 months later, EmpCenter Delivered is among the most widely adopted SaaS-based workforce management solutions on the market, and our decision to invest in SaaS has been strongly validated by customer demand.”

Looking Ahead
As stories of the detrimental effect of employee fatigue continue to dominate news cycles, WorkForce Software will soon introduce a series of informative ‘webcasts’ detailing how organizations can effectively monitor and mitigate fatigue. Leveraging the expertise gained by developing and delivering employee fatigue management solutions to nearly 70% of all nuclear power plants within the United States, WorkForce Software is uniquely positioned to help employers in other industries – such as aviation, petrochemical, manufacturing and more – address the complex and high-stakes issue of employee fatigue.

WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and compliance concerns, today announced its inclusion on Software Magazine’s Software 500 ranking of the world’s largest software and service providers, now in its 28th year.

WorkForce Software enjoyed tremendous growth in 2009 which resulted in ranking 331 on this prestigious list.

“The 2010 Software 500 results show that revenue growth in the software and services industry was healthy, with total Software 500 revenue of $491.7 billion worldwide for 2009, representing virtually flat growth from the previous year,” says John P. Desmond, editor of Software Magazine and Softwaremag.com.

“The Software 500 helps CIOs, senior IT managers and IT staff research and create the short list of business partners,” Desmond says. “It is a quick reference of vendor viability. And the online version, to be posted soon at www.Softwaremag.com, is searchable by category, making it what we call the online catalog to enterprise software.”

The Software 500 is a revenue-based ranking of the world’s largest software and services suppliers targeting medium to large enterprises, their IT professionals, software developers and business managers involved in software and services purchasing.

The ranking is based on total worldwide software and services revenue for 2009. This includes revenues from software licenses, maintenance and support, training and software-related services and consulting. Suppliers are not ranked on their total corporate revenue, since many have other lines of business, such as hardware. The financial information was gathered by a survey prepared by King Content Co. and posted at www.Softwaremag.com, as well as from public documents.

“In our fourth consecutive year of being recognized as one of the largest technology providers by Software Magazine, I feel a great deal of pride in both the company and the team that makes it happen,” stated Kevin Choksi, president and CEO of WorkForce Software. “We continue to invest in new technologies and work closely with our clients to ensure we provide a solution that makes their jobs easier and helps organizations to better manage labor costs and their workforce.”

WorkForce Software Announces EmpCenter® Absence Compliance Tracker; Redefines Employee Absence Management Leave Practices for HR Professionals…from WorkForce Software

October 4, 2010

EmpCenter ACT Takes the Stress out of Compliance: Point. Click. Comply.

Howard Tarnoff, Senior Vice President, and Marc Moschetto, Vice President of Marketing, from WorkForce Software appeared on the HRchitect WebMingle on August 12, 2010.  If you are looking for a new Talent Management System, Workforce Management, or any HR system, talk to HRchitect first. We have unparalleled knowledge of the HR and Talent Management vendor community and can save you time and money in selection and implementation. Simply put, do not invest in any kind of HR technology without consulting with the experts first. HRchitect is here to help!

WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and compliance concerns, announced its absence management solution, EmpCenter® Absence Compliance Tracker (ACT), at last week’s HR Technology Conference & Expo in Chicago.

Human resource professionals are required to maintain compliance with a diverse array of federal, state, corporate, and other employee leave regulations and policies. Common examples include the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), military leave and pregnancy leave, but other programs such as those offered on a state-by-state basis are becoming more numerous and more common. Managing employee leave within this environment is complicated because any single employee leave request could qualify for coverage under more than one leave program, and the state laws and regulations are constantly changing.

Determining the appropriate leave type (or types), effectively managing the leave request – including documenting all correspondence and communication related to the leave – and, maintaining compliance with constantly changing regulations places a heavy burden on already overtaxed human resource departments. EmpCenter ACT, however, delivers a powerful new way to automate the entire leave management process.

“A broad array of state, federal, and corporate leave policies has created an unprecedented level of complexity and potential exposure for employers,” said Howard Tarnoff, WorkForce Software’s senior vice president. “We brought EmpCenter ACT to market to both mitigate the risk and ease the burden of complying with the sometimes intersecting leave policies, practices, and regulations that are already on the books today, as well as safeguard organizations from any new laws – or changes to existing laws – which may arise in the future.”

Unlike other absence management solutions or outsourced services available to HR professionals, EmpCenter ACT breaks down the complex employee leave process into three simple steps:

Step 1: Employee Leave Request and Leave Type Determination – a comprehensive, dynamic questionnaire is presented to the employee and, based on the responses to those questions, a report of qualifying leave type (or types) is presented  to HR in real-time

Step 2: Active Case Management – a secure and comprehensive workflow to ensure all documentation is processed on time and within policy, and all relevant communication is captured in a HIPAA-compliant environment

Step 3: Policy Compliance – a compliance update subscription service monitors and automatically updates the application whenever an existing leave regulation is changed or a new regulation is introduced, ensuring HR is using the most up-to-date information with minimal effort

For the first time, HR professionals can utilize technology to automate the entire leave process, regardless of the type of leave. Utilizing EmpCenter ACT gives HR departments robust functionality that includes:

  • Delivering a proactive approach to managing all aspects of employee leave
  • Automating the process of classifying employee leave
  • Documenting all leave-related activities and paperwork for a complete audit trail
  • Capturing each step of the leave process, from documentation to reminders for a physician visit
  • Proactively ensures compliance with current state and federal regulations, using an active update service
  • Supporting concurrent leave taken by any single employee (e.g. workers’ compensation and FMLA)
  • Generating reports and other analysis to view leave allowances, leave usage, and identify patterns of leave that may indicate policy abuse

As a result, organizations can achieve compliance, mitigate risk, and reduce the amount of effort required by the HR organization to monitor and apply these frequently changing policies.

EmpCenter ACT works in concert with the rest of the EmpCenter suite, but it can be used to complement and extend the functionality of any other time and attendance system, such as from Kronos, PeopleSoft, SAP, Ultimate Software, or ADP.

EmpCenter ACT is part of EmpCenter 8.0, the latest iteration of WorkForce Software’s proven, enterprise-grade workforce management suite. One component of the suite is EmpCenter Time and Attendance, designed to accommodate even the most complex pay rules and work rules solely through software configuration. Other EmpCenter components include an advanced labor scheduling application, powerful analysis and reporting tools, mobile workforce management applications for smartphones, and the EmpCenter Compliance Portal.  The Compliance Portal, new with EmpCenter 8.0, is an online resource containing thousands of articles and legal information designed to help HR professionals gain current and comprehensive data on a variety of topics – from leave regulations to benefits, payroll policies, best practices, and other information they need to complete their day-to-day activities.  The EmpCenter suite components can be used separately or in concert with each other for a full workforce management solution.

WorkForce Software Announces Significant Revenue Growth and Company Expansion in 2009…from WorkForce Software

February 10, 2010

Company Marks 10th Anniversary With Record Revenues

If you are looking for a new Talent Management System, Workforce Management System, or any HR system, talk to HRchitect first. We have unparalleled knowledge of the HR and Talent Management vendor community and can save you time and money in selection and implementation.

WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex policies and compliance concerns, reported today that revenue for the period January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2009 increased by 50% as compared to the same twelve month period in 2008. Despite the challenging economic conditions that affected the global economy in 2009, WorkForce Software continued to expand operations, grow its workforce, and add new clients to the roster.

“Due to the unprecedented economic pressures of 2009, organizations of every size and across every industry sought ways to reduce costs, improve operational efficiencies and maximize the value of their employee base,” stated Kevin Choksi, WorkForce Software’s co-founder and CEO. “Workforce management solutions emerged as a significant contributor to helping Human Resource professionals expand their role within the organization and positively impact business development, employee productivity, and corporate strategy.”

Key to WorkForce Software’s growth was the signing of new clients including Day & Zimmermann, University of Hartford, and Duke Energy. Nearly 50% of the new clients are in the utility industry, building upon WorkForce Software’s already strong install base in the nuclear power market. Validating WorkForce Software’s concentration on mitigating complex labor policies and ensuring compliance, the company implemented the largest fatigue management project on record. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) required all nuclear plants to meet strict “fitness for duty” regulations by August 15, 2009 or shutdown. WorkForce Software successfully implemented its EmpCenter® Fatigue Management solution to 90,000 employees at 34 locations in the U.S. simultaneously.

WorkForce Software’s continued growth also required the organization to relocate its corporate headquarters in September. Doubling its office space in a new modern facility, with a state-of-the art training facility, WorkForce Software can easily accommodate its current and future employee population.

Finally, WorkForce Software also celebrated its 10-year anniversary in 2009, marking a decade of focusing on meeting complex and evolving strategic workforce management needs and acting as a true partner in their clients’ ongoing success.

“The entire organization is excited by the company’s continued growth and the milestones we reached in 2009,” concluded Choksi. “And 2010 promises to deliver greater growth for the company with expanded services and solutions for our clients.”

65% Revenue Growth Attributed to WorkForce Software Planning and Execution in 2008…from WorkForce Software

February 26, 2009

Workforce Management Software Vendor Expects Continued Growth in 2009

WorkForce Software, Inc., a leader in workforce management solutions, reported today that it grew revenue by 65-percent in 2008. Fueled with $5.5 million in investment capital at the beginning of 2008, the company’s executive team, led by Kevin Choksi, created and executed on a plan for growth in key industries, including education, financial services, public sector, and utilities. In addition, the company launched a major new release, version 7.0, of its EmpCenter workforce management suite, which helped win new business.

“We entered 2008 with a strong growth plan and the capital to implement it” said Kevin Choksi, president and CEO of WorkForce Software. “We executed that plan and delivered outstanding results.”

The investment capital, which came from ORIX Venture Finance early in 2008, also helped WorkForce hire additional experienced people for its sales, marketing, consulting and development teams. “We were able to broaden the coverage of our sales team with A-List players with domain expertise in human capital management and ERP software” said Choksi. “With more feet-on-the-street, we were able to compete in more deals—and win them.

With new customers in the public sector, education, financial services and utilities industries, specifically the utility industry, WorkForce acquired nearly twice as many new customers in 2008 than it did in 2007. WorkForce proactively positioned itself with appropriate resources and augmented its staff with partnerships with leading human capital management consulting firms, including Workforce Insight, Hackett Group, and Axsium Group.

“Each of our consulting partners is currently engaged on EmpCenter projects,” said Kathy Cannon, implementation director and co-founder of WorkForce Software. “We are impressed with the skills and knowledge they have brought to these projects and look forward to continuing relationships with each.”

WorkForce is also well positioned for 2009 and expects strong results. “While we continue to keep our eyes on changing economic indicators, our plan for this year is sound. We are increasing efficiencies, monitoring our costs, and pursuing markets that have proven to be profitable for us,” said Ed Bernice, CFO of WorkForce Software.

In 2008, WorkForce also made a significant investment in marketing automation, which helps the company identify and communicate with more prospective customers than in previous years. “Our marketing efforts are focused on efficiently uncovering a growing number of well defined opportunities,” said Bob Gallagher, vice president of marketing for WorkForce Software. “We are seeing improved productivity and dramatic year over year increase in opportunities.

”Another important milestone for WorkForce in 2008 was the development of its EmpCenter Fatigue Management solution, which has been chosen by more than 50-percent of the nuclear power companies in America. The solution manages compliance with new United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC) requirements that were created to provide reasonable assurance of industrial and nuclear safety by managing the “fitness for duty” of employees.

The Fatigue Management solution leverages EmpCenter’s sophisticated rules engine, so it is able to manage complex NRC requirements without custom programming. Companion modules to Fatigue Management include EmpCenter Time and Attendance, which manages complex pay rules, leave accruals, and other attendance policies; and EmpCenter Advanced Scheduler, which helps managers create optimized employee schedules, and fill vacant positions that result from unplanned absences.

Many organizations turn to cost savings in a down economy, and WorkForce Software’s EmpCenter applications significantly cut labor costs by automating the thousands of interactions between employees and employers. A 2008 Nucleus Research study found that one WorkForce Software customer, Ohio University, used EmpCenter to save $2.9 million annually. The study also found that Ohio University’s payback on the investment was only three months, which demonstrates the value of the EmpCenter workforce management solution.
