About the publication
An independent read on HR technology and the vendors behind it
HR Technology Vendor News covers the software that runs the employment relationship: systems of record, payroll engines, recruiting platforms, talent and learning tools, workforce management and the analytics layer on top.
Editorial mission
Most HR software coverage falls into two camps: vendor announcements republished with minimal scrutiny, or high-level commentary that never touches how a system is actually configured, integrated and paid for. We aim to sit between the two — practical enough for an HRIS administrator, structured enough for a CIO reviewing a shortlist.
Our editorial position is simple. HR technology decisions last a long time. A core HR and payroll platform selected this year will shape reporting, employee experience and integration work for the better part of a decade. That deserves careful, unglamorous, well-organised explanation rather than launch-day enthusiasm.
Who we serve
Our readers are HR leaders and HR operations teams, HRIS and people systems administrators, payroll professionals, recruiters and talent acquisition leaders, people analytics teams, IT and enterprise architecture partners, and consultants who implement these platforms. Much of what we publish is written for the moment a team is between problems and platforms: requirements are half-formed, the shortlist is unclear and the internal business case still needs writing.
What we cover
- Core HR and HCM platforms — records, workflow, security models, extensibility and reporting.
- Payroll technology, including multi-country payroll models and compliance workflows.
- Recruiting technology: applicant tracking, sourcing, screening, scheduling and onboarding.
- Talent management, learning, performance, succession and skills.
- Workforce management: scheduling, attendance, labour forecasting and self-service.
- AI in HR, people analytics and the governance both require.
Vendor coverage and historical context
We write about vendors because buyers cannot avoid them, not because we represent any of them. Product coverage describes capability categories and architectural approaches rather than repeating marketing claims. Where we discuss acquisitions, partnerships or funding, we describe the pattern and its consequences for customers.
A large part of the HR software market's shape comes from consolidation that happened years ago. When we reference those events — the wave of talent-suite acquisitions, the movement of workforce management vendors into adjacent categories, the shift to cloud-delivered HCM — we label them clearly as historical and keep them in past tense. We do not present archived announcements as current news. Our long-form treatment of that history sits in our vendor news and cloud HCM coverage.
How we source
We rely on publicly available product documentation, vendor technical guides, published standards, regulatory and tax authority guidance, and the practical experience of practitioners who have run these programmes. When we are not confident in a specific figure, date or claim, we describe the pattern instead of inventing precision. We do not publish invented statistics, fabricated quotations or unverifiable analyst claims.
Corrections and independence
Errors get fixed in place, with the update date changed on the article. Substantive corrections are described in the article itself. We accept no payment for coverage, placement or ranking, and we do not run sponsored articles disguised as editorial. The full standard is set out in our editorial policy.
